A Message on Project South and Maintaining Public Trust

This morning, many of you will have seen media coverage about Project South and the serious allegations now before the courts. As your City Councillor, and in my role as Chair of the Toronto Police Service Board, I want residents to hear directly from the Board about the steps underway to protect public trust and ensure accountability.

These allegations are deeply concerning. I know news like this can shake confidence in the institutions we rely on to keep our communities safe. That’s exactly why strong civilian oversight exists, and why the Board has moved quickly to request an independent inspection and full review of the issues raised.
I am sharing the Board’s full statement below so you can better understand both the seriousness of the situation and the actions being taken to ensure transparency, accountability, and public safety.
I know many residents in our Don Valley North community will have questions following this news. Transparency and accountability remain central to my work and I am committed to keeping our community informed as this process moves forward.
At the same time, this is an active criminal investigation, and charges have now been laid before the courts. To protect the integrity of that process, I am not able to share additional details beyond what has been made public.
As always, I encourage residents to reach out to my office to share concerns or perspectives. Hearing directly from you helps inform my work and ensures our community’s voice is reflected in ongoing oversight and decision-making.
